The Best Locations Along Toronto’s Waterfront

As the weather is getting warmer and the semester is drawing to a close, the need for some fresh air is becoming more frequent every day. There are so many amazing places in Toronto to get outside and explore, but one prominent location is the shores of Lake Ontario.  We are very fortunate to live in a city with a beautiful waterfront that spans over 100 kilometres. Throughout the vast stretch of shoreline there are many unique and outstanding places that should be on every Torontonian’s bucket list to visit this season.  Here are some of the top locations along […]

Asian Discrimination Within the Music Industry

As someone who is a part of the Asian community and enjoys the different Asian cultures, it has been a tough time knowing that people are so cruel in this world. It has also been tough knowing that the celebrities I often turn to have been struggling, but still put on a happy face to make their fans smile. So for today’s post, I really wanted to talk about how Asian artists in the music industry have shared their story and spoken up about the #StopAsianHate movement. If You Liked… – Album Recommendations Based on Your Favourite Albums

Searching for good music can be hard, especially as a student. Though it’s easier now more than ever with Spotify’s curated playlist culture, it can still be difficult. We’re busy, calendar filled to the brim with deadlines. Spending our time searching for music and figuring out whether we like it or not is not exactly the best use of time. Sometimes we’re not sure if this one song in a playlist will actually lead to anything good. Thankfully, I’ve done the work for you today! I’ve compiled a list of popular albums from the past couple of years or so […]

Toronto Maple Leafs Trade Deadline Options

Luke Glendening (Marc DesRosiers-USA TODAY Sports) The upcoming NHL trade deadline is unlike one that we have seen in years past and yes, it’s because of Covid. With quarantine restrictions, Canadian teams were hesitant to trade with teams outside the North division due to quarantine laws. But just last week, the required quarantine time was shortened from 14 days to just 7 which will likely result in the trade market starting to heat up.    The Toronto Maple Leafs are one of those teams who always have a leg in the race with every key free agent target on the market and […]

Three Student Budget-Friendly Travel Destinations to Start Researching

Image Credit: Paolina Loseto The moment the city of Toronto went on lockdown in March 2020, my brain automatically went “get me out of here.” One of my biggest goals for the longest time, is to travel to as many places I can and COVID-19 has only furthered my dreams to jet off to anywhere and everywhere I’ve never been. Of course it isn’t safe yet to travel, but who says you can’t get ahead on planning (and saving) for an amazing getaway.  In other words, if you’re like me and you plan on traveling again once it’s safe to […]

Creative and Fun Courses to Take During Your Time at Ryerson!

Image Credit: Pexels, 2016 Hey friends! The average full-time student at Ryerson will take around 40 courses from start to finish (5 per semester).  We all know that struggle of trying to fit our mandatory courses in whilst hoping that our electives are not too difficult or boring.  With this in mind, I thought I’d share a few courses that have actually been fun, creative and “easy A” selections in my opinion.  These are for the students that enjoy participation, creativity and team work rather than theoretical learning, papers, homework and exams.  Without further ado, let’s get started! Summer Fashion Tips for RTA Folks (ft. a Fashion Student and an Influencer)

Flexing an outfit over Zoom has proven to be very difficult. It’s nothing like showing up to a mass lecture to show off some new fashions.  That said, I don’t consider myself a fashion expert by any means. Walking through the Fashion hallway in Kerr Hall on my way to the RCC is always an experience.  So, I figured I’d speak to some well-dressed friends of mine to prepare us all for the Summer and the (hopeful) return to in-person living. Please excuse my handwriting (Image Credit: Joe Mastromatteo) I met Jerico De Vera and Paul Choe in high school […]

Transitioning from YA fiction to Adult Fiction Reading

The past year during this strange time of quarantine and social distancing, I, like I’m sure many others, have turned to streaming services for entertainment. But given it has now been a year of this pandemic, I am running out of things that interest me to watch. So lately I have been seeking out new books to read. My entire life I have always been drawn to fiction, in books, film and television. So as a child my favourite books were things such as Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Bone, and Geronimo Stilton. Then as I moved into my teenage […]

Multiphase MCU of Madness – MCU in Chronological Order

Last week I had assignments to do and a thesis project to work on, but I ended up somehow spending one entire day watching WandaVision. Needless to say, I got hooked into watching Marvel Cinematic Universe films. I’ve watched all the films in the MCU films before, but some of them I haven’t watched in years and not in chronological order. So instead of focusing my energy on school work (I hope my professors don’t see this), I spent an entire week watching the entirety of the MCU in chronological order for a week; about 3-4 films a days. Yes […]

Grammys 2021: Was it Worth Watching?

On Sunday, March 14th the Grammys took over social media with their 63rd Annual award show. It started at 3pm EST with a Pre Show Ceremony, followed by the red carpet at 6pm EST and the actual award show from 8-11:30pm. Although everything was live streamed, the actual show was in person for those who were in Los Angeles and able to attend. Prior to the show, many artists such as The Weeknd, Zayn Malik, The 1975, Selena Gomez,  Halsey and many more were all vocal about their opinion on the Grammys and their nomination snubs. A few days before […]

New Artists to Add to Your Playlists

It can be hard to find new artists to listen to. After a while, we get sick of hearing the same music and the same artists. It took me a while to figure out a good routine with regards to finding new music, but I’m here to offer my advice. If you end up enjoying even one of the five artists I’m recommending, I’ll be happy! I decided to write about six artists who have a monthly listenership that is on the “lower end”. These definitely aren’t names you hear frequently (at least for now) but they are definitely worth […]

A Day in the Life of a Student and Her Puppy

Image Credit: Allegra Smith-Herriott Since bringing home my golden retriever puppy back in December, my life and daily routine has been completely turned upside down.  This school semester, I’m lucky enough to have all of my classes over the course of two days: Monday and Tuesday. That being said, those days are incredibly busy. Add in having to care for a 6 month old puppy who’s energy seems to have amplified over the past couple of weeks. Needless to say, I’ve had to reconfigure my schedule to accommodate all of my new responsibilities.  The beginning of the week is very […]

The NHL North Division’s Biggest Surprises So Far

Image Credit: Sean Kilpatrick/The Canadian Press The NHL’s new Scotiabank North Division has been one of the most exciting aspects of the 2020-2021 NHL season. The anticipation has been worth it and every game seems to be more entertaining than the last. There have been plenty of surprises over the course of the season but hey, that’s what makes hockey so much fun. Vancouver’s Fall The Canucks were deemed to be one of the favourites to finish atop the North Division alongside the Toronto Maple Leafs but as we near the half-way point of the season, things are not going […]

5 Must-Try Bubble Tea Shops in Toronto

[Image by: Rosalind Chang via UnSplash] There’s so many amazing spots in Toronto to grab bubble tea, but they’re often overshadowed by well-known brands like Chatime and Coco. Sometimes I feel hesitant to try new places because I’ve developed this brand loyalty to the two spots I’m most familiar with. After making an active effort to order drinks from other stores, I’m here to share my current top five bubble tea spots, plus my favourite drinks from them. Letterboxd – Your New Hub For Discussing Film

Image Credit: Letterboxd One thing I really miss about pre-pandemic life is going to the movies. The anticipation, the delicious but insanely expensive popcorn, and the pre-show trivia games and trailers are all highlights of the theatre experience. I’m a person who also loves to theory-craft with friends after a movie, and that might be the part I miss most about going out to my local Cineplex. Thankfully, that social aspect hasn’t totally been lost because of a perfect little place online that scratches that itch of roasting your favourite movies with friends – Letterboxd. Letterboxd is a social network […]
