Recommending Songs Based on Your Zodiac Signs (Part 1)

Posted on February 25, 2022

I love music. Everyone loves music. Even if you don’t love music, you would still put something on when you’re, let’s say, doing chores, studying, commuting or reading a book. I also like learning about zodiac signs. I find it really fascinating how people in ancient times looked up in the sky, linked the stars together and formed these images that would have an influence on our personality traits. I, myself, don’t actually think that everything is written in the stars but astrology is still a fun topic to talk about. So when you combine music and astrology, you have this list of song recommendations.

But before we start, I want to say that I’m not a professional or experienced astrologer. All the information I learned about each zodiac sign is from the Internet and from my observations of people around me. I also know that not everyone feels as connected to their astrological signs as others do. So this is just one of the fun ways for me to recommend some of my favourite songs to you guys.

Here’s part 1, aka the first 6 zodiac signs song recommendations. Hope you’ll find a new song to add to your playlist!

Aries (March 21 - April 19)

First up, we have Aries. Just like other fire signs (Leo and Sagittarius), you guys are energetic, passionate and competitive. You are born an initiator, always being excited to try new things and dive into unfamiliar environments. But because of that you might sometimes find yourself in a tricky situation or packed with lots of work and burnt yourself out.

So I recommend you guys listen to Stoned at the Nail Salon by Lorde.

It is a very calming and reflective song. Lorde sings about and meditates on the simple life she is leading and the crazy life she used to have as a teen. I think Aries can really resonate with the line “my hot blood’s been burning for so many summers now” in the pre-chorus and this song can be a reminder for you guys to relax a bit.

Taurus (April 20 - May 20)

Hello Taureans! You guys, given you’re an earth sign, are very grounded and are good at investment and managing money. On the outside, you guys can look practical and logical, but you actually have a soft side. You love soothing sounds and immersing in a relaxing ambience.

So Billie Bossa Nova by Billie Eilish is the song I’m going to recommend.

It’s perfect for you to close the blinds, light a scented candle, serve yourself a croissant and a cup of hot chocolate and just groove around while the bossa nova beat is playing in the background. Also, I think what Billie sings about in the song regarding her lover can be an outlet for your irrational heart while it fights with your logical mind when you’re in love.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)

Next, we have Gemini. A lot of people misunderstand you guys as being two-faced and gossipy but really you are just playful, curious and unhinged (in a good way). You are also good at expression and communication. You know how to use words and language quite well.

So my recommendation for you guys is no body, no crime by Taylor Swift.

It’s such a fun and playful song that narrates a story with twists and turns. Taylor sequences the events and provides details in such a way that keeps you wanting to know what’s going to happen next. And I think you, Geminis, are going to like Taylor’s storytelling in this song a lot. Also, the cheerful vibe of this song will absolutely make you go yeehaw!

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)

Hi my fellow Cancers! Hope you are having the best time ever! But let’s admit it and let’s face the truth: we are overthinkers. We overthink a lot. But that doesn’t stop us from being loyal to our friends and lovers. We are also intuitive and very attentive to the details of our loved ones.

And my song recommendation for my fellow Cancerians is Jackie and Wilson by Hozier.

It is again a playful song. I absolutely love the music composition. It’s so fun to listen to. In the song, Hozier sings about a fleeting romantic relationship with his partner who is not as committed as he is. But in the chorus, he talks about naming their children Jackie and Wilson and raising them on R&B which gives me such Cancer energy.

Leo (July 23 - August 22)

To you, Leos, life itself is a drama. You guys are dramatic, theatrical and passionate. You give off main-character energy and love the attention. You guys are also very confident and are loyal to people around you.

The song I’m recommending is Strip by Little Mix

This song is about accepting your body image and appreciating the natural beauty of the body. No matter what body size or skin colour you have, you’re beautiful. As confident and energetic as you guys are, I’m sure there’ll be some downtime for you as well. And I hope this song can remind you that even if you don’t feel like it, you are still beautiful!

Virgo (August 23 - September 22)

As an earth sign, you, Virgos, are very logical and practical. You guys are also good at communication but instead of giving out information, as Geminis do, you guys know best how to process information and organize it. And because of this, many people go to you for advice and you are indeed quite supportive. You are also a perfectionist.

And I’m going to recommend Beautiful by Lana Del Rey.

After giving out so much advice for people, you, Virgos, are probably wondering who’s going to give advice to you guys then. Well… Lana Del Rey has some important life advice for you guys – “Don’t turn me into something I’m not / There’s no way to sustain it”. Do not change who you are for someone else! The production of this song is exquisite and the piano in the intro is so delicate like a feather falling. Beautiful is beautiful!
