5 Tv Sitcoms That Are Too Funny to Not Re-watch

Now that we’re half-way through the school year, some of you might be looking for ways to relax, decompress and just have a good time. Luckily, there are a whole bunch of classic TV sitcoms that are available to stream and have continued to make us laugh well into the 21st century. These shows are great to put on between classes or anytime you feel like you want to lose yourself in TV land. Here are my top TV picks for guaranteed 2nd semester laughs:

1. Golden Girls

We all know the song “Thank You For Being A Friend” and just like its iconic jingle, this show has stood the test of time. It surprised me to find out that many famous actors will say that their favourite TV show is “Golden Girls”. I thought, really? Is it really that funny? The answer: YES. This series is full of quotable one-liners and the crazy situations these ladies get into are sitcom gold.

Golden Girls can be streamed on Prime Video.

2. Friends

Could this show BE anymore hilarious?! I probably don’t even need to get into the reasons why Friends = guaranteed laughs, but here we go anyway. The writing on this show is hugely creative and the cast is stacked with the funniest people in the biz. Put on a FRIENDS episode after a long day and you’re golden, girl. Some of my favourite episodes include: “The One With The Male Nanny” and “The One With The Blackout”.

FRIENDS can be streamed on CRAVE.

3. Curb Your Enthusiasm

I thought about putting Seinfeld here, but we already have a sitcom about a kooky group of friends in New York on this list, plus, Curb is everything we love about Seinfeld, mixed with the awkward humour of Larry David. This show is just so outrageous and the improvised feel of it makes it twice as funny.

Curb Your Enthusiasm can be streamed on CRAVE.

4. The IT Crowd

This one’s for all the British TV lovers out there. The IT Crowd is not as well known in Canada as it is in the British Isles, but it’s definitely worth a watch (or re-watch) this semester. The comedy style is Seinfeld-esque with a bit of The Office thrown in. You’ll see, it’s flippin’ brilliant.

The IT Crowd can be streamed on Netflix.

5. Will and Grace

It was hard to decide on a final contender, but Will and Grace won me over as one of the top pre-2000s sitcoms that’s still as funny today as it was back in the 90s. You can’t even look at Jack without breaking out into laughter. This show is just pure joy and each character is funny in their own signature way.

Will and Grace can be streamed on Prime Video.

So there you go! My top sitcoms to cure the 2nd semester blues. When in doubt, just click and stream. You’ll be laughing in seconds flat!
