Spooky season has come and gone and before we break out the Christmas lights and sing “All I want for Christmas is You”, let’s talk about the new Halloween movie. Yes, they are still making those movies. For all Halloween fans who are still recovering from the Rob Zombie reboot series or even from the films that came after Halloween 2; the new Halloween scraps all the previous reboots and continues the film from the original Halloween. The original scream queen, Jamie Lee Curtis returns and even John Carpenter returns as a character writer with Maria Hill. Nick Castle also
The death of yet another young musician on June 18, 2018 has sparked up conversations about various controversial global issues – gun crime, recklessness of hip hop feuds and the disrupted mental health of musicians to name a few. One of the most critical ones is the debate of whether or not artist’s music should be separated from the crimes they commit in their personal lives. Prior to his death at the mere age of twenty, XXX had been rather notoriously known for his violent past. His childhood consisted of numerous expulsions due to physical fights, nine months of his

Kathleen C. Rogers’ thirteen-minute art film Vignette is on exhibition at the Ryerson Artspace at the Gladstone Hotel from November 1 – 16, 2018. Kathleen, who is in the final year of her BFA at Ryerson, is there herself when I visit the film’s opening reception on the evening of November 1st. She greets me with a warm smile and offers me tea, before gesturing for me to sit and watch her film. “Try to make sense of it,” she jokes. I watch Vignette three times. Partly because as I talk to Kathleen the film plays on loop, projected on

Since I saw the advertisement for the film, A Star is Born, starring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, I was absolutely dying to watch it. I am a fan of Bradley Cooper and have always been a fan of Lady Gaga because of her outstanding vocals and originality. I must say that after watching this film, I have an even greater respect for the two. Their vocal performances and acting were phenomenal. Their presence on screen was so captivating, it was easy to tell that every single person in the theatre felt like they took part in the story. People

Within the past week, Canada has legalized marijuana, causing many changes within the way many universities set their smoking rules. Many schools have banned smoking as a whole; including cigarettes. The University of Toronto already has a non – smoking residence which also prohibits smoking in all of the university building, and now these rules will extend to cannabis. “Sometimes what some people may perceive as a flaw turns out to be someone’s greatest strength.” This is a quote from Brandon Hardesty’s “No Small Parts” episode about Gwendoline Christie, otherwise known as Brienne of Tarth from Game of Thrones. I suppose you could also use this quote for Brandon Hardesty himself. As an actor who’s known for roles as “the funny fat guy,” he sure knows how to create captivating videos about his appreciation for fellow character actors. A character actor plays eccentric or unusual people rather than leading roles. In other words, they’re the actors and actresses you
