My Favorite Taylor Swift Songs (and why)

I think we all know that Taylor Swift has had an enormous impact on the music industry and forever will. With over 200 songs, 9 original albums plus re-records, 10 Grammys and countless more awards, it’s evident that she has successfully made her career in the industry. I was a huge fan of hers growing up: I went to the “Red” tour Toronto show in 2013, had all of the CDs, and she was my go artist on my iPod touch. It’s safe to say when she began to release the re-recordings, my inner child was screaming. With all of these amazing songs it’s hard to choose my favorites, but here are my top 5 favorite songs of hers (for now).
5. Lover- Lover

Something about this song from the “Lover” album in 2019 is so peaceful and calming, but also upbeat and happy. The lyrics are about being in a committed relationship, this is the perfect love song. Beautiful and meaningful while the background instrumentals complement her voice perfectly. If you want a song that will make you feel like you are in an ideal relationship and want to relive the moment they said “I love you”, give this one a listen
4. Betty- Folklore
This song “Betty” from her album “Folklore” in 2020 was a hit when it came out. The song acts out the storyline of two characters named Betty and James and James’ apology towards her. This song definitely had Swifties very nostalgic as it has a very country vibe to it, almost like her old music. Her voice and the lyrics are so captivating and it has an extremely catchy tune. No matter what, this song never fails to make me cry.
3. The Story of Us- Speak Now

The “Speak Now” album is one of those albums where every song is amazing but this one takes it all for me. Miscommunication and misunderstandings are a huge part in relationship endings and this song perfectly captures the ups and downs and confusions that go along with it. Upbeat and powerful, this song is the best while screaming in the car.
2. You Belong With Me (Taylor's Version)
Probably the most well-known Taylor Swift song, perfect for any occasion. Parties, car rides, dancing, or just needing to let out a scream, you can’t go wrong with this one. The re-recorded version of this song was released in 2021 and I will never forget the first time I listened to it. Nostalgia mixed with excitement and energy had me singing this like I was in middle school again.
1. All too Well (Taylor's Version) (10 Minute Version)

Re-released this year, this perfect song became even more perfect while becoming a 10-minute version. Accompanied with a short film featuring Dylan O’Brien and Sadie Sink, the execution of this song was perfect and had everyone on board. The raw emotion in the new lyrics took me away while listening the first time. Hearing her voice development in the re-recordings is incredible. The song made history while becoming the longest #1 hit in the Hot 100 list. This song is written extremely deep and personal, with relatable and heavy lyrics which are a lot to digest. Right now, this is my #1 Favorite Taylor Swift song, but I’m always up for change.
It was extremely hard to narrow down only 5 songs to make that list, as almost any of her songs could crack the top 5 for me. Now I’m just waiting for a re-record of “Speak now”.
