Movies That Will Bring You Back to the Cinemas

Posted on November 16, 2021

How long has it been since you sat in a partial-reclining chair surrounded by its leather material, eyes facing forward with a 90x30ft cinema screen flashing back at you? Sitting in eager anticipation for the opening credits of a film you’ve been waiting for to start rolling. How long has it been since you felt the explosion within a film through the surround sound system in your local cineplex? How long has it been since you’ve been to the movie theaters?

For me, it had been nearly two since I had a bag of buttery movie theater popcorn in my lap, waiting for a film to fill the screen before me. When I finally got back into that seat, it had been to see Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings. Sat next to me were the two friends that were with me when I saw my last film in theaters before the pandemic changed our world. Sitting in the theater again had never felt so great. And I cannot express how thrilled I was that my first film back was an action-packed adventure film with a pleasantly diverse cast.

So with that said, as people ease back into the idea of sitting in a room full of people once again, I’d like to give you a couple movie ideas that would be great for your first time back in the theater. With award season approaching there’s a plethora of amazing content hitting the big screen to lure you into your first experience back.

Eternals

To start, from the beloved Marvel Universe for all those superhero fans, there’s the new MCU film Eternals. Directed by the Oscar award-winning Chloé Zhao, the film follows a group of powerful superheroes who have been on earth for thousands of years brought back together to fight deviants. With cast/characters from an array of ethnicities, as well as Marvel’s first deaf superhero; this is the Marvel movie we have been waiting for. One that reflects the diversity of our world, bringing us together on the big screen. Thus, if you’re looking for a film that will make the theater shake and remind you why we fell in love with superhero movies, I highly recommend making the trip to the cinemas to see Eternals on the big screen.

Last Night in Soho

Next up, this film directed by the talented Edgar Wright looks to be a wonderfully mysterious thriller of a film. The story follows an aspiring fashion designer as she finds herself with the ability to enter the 1960s and is faced with dreams of the past that unravel into something dark. Last Night in Soho stands out for its originality in the Horror genre. With a meticulously crafted score and beautiful cinematography, heading to the theaters to see this film is sure to be a thrilling experience.

DUNE

Last but not least, a film that was truly created to be seen on the big screen, DUNE directed by Canadian director Denis Villeneuve. With a star- studded cast, this new adaptation of the 1965 classic written by Frank Herbert follows the son of an acclaimed family who is faced with a fate that was written for him and must step up to help protect the most valuable asset in the galaxy. DUNE has brought together generations of movie goers; from Baby Boomers to Gen Z, these theaters are packed with old and new fans of the Sci-Fi hit. This is a film that, if any, is meant to be seen on the big screen. With a score by Hans Zimmer that makes the theater shake with a breathtaking soundtrack, it is an experience that will make you fall in love with the art of filmmaking.
