Five Things to Do this Spring in Toronto

Posted on April 9, 2022

Personally, Spring is my favourite season. The flowers are finally blooming, there’s peaceful rain, and warm weather again! It’s like a breath of fresh air after the typical freezing Toronto winter that lasts way too long. With COVID restrictions lifting and the city finally coming out of hibernation, here are five recommendations for fun activities to do in Toronto during Springtime.

5. Cherry Blossoms- High Park

This one goes without saying, the cherry blossoms at High Park are always packed during the Spring months, so find a good time to go! Whether it’s for a perfect Instagram photo, or just to take a look at these beautiful flowers, this should definitely be somewhere you want to visit. To get a prime look at the blossoms, the best time to visit would be late April or early May.

4. Sunset and Sunrise At Polson Pier

The sky getting colourful and being able to enjoy it is one of my favourite parts about the warmer weather in Toronto. Seeing the sunrise/sunset over the water and feeling the cool air is a great way to either start off or end your day. Located very close to the downtown core, this pier is accessible and an amazing photography spot, it holds one of the best views of the Toronto skyline!

3. Woodbine Beach

The beaches are finally turning from snow-covered back to sand, and one of the hottest beaches in the city to hit up is Woodbine! A short distance from downtown takes you to this beautiful spot in the city. With a 5 mile boardwalk and clean blue swimming water, it’s a perfect way to cool off as the weather starts to heat up. A breezy long stroll down by the water is a perfect way to celebrate the beginning of Spring. Make this a day trip destination and use the opportunity to explore the neighbourhoods and restaurants around it.

2. Blue Jays Game

Sporting events are always a great way to spend a warm day in downtown Toronto. With the passionate fans and the sun shining through the open roof, this makes for the perfect relaxing outing Downtown. Tickets range from $20-$100 and it’s super easy to find great deals last minute! Opening weekend is April 8-10th so grab some friends, a baseball cap, and get ready to enjoy the first pitch of the season to kick off the warm weather. Go Jays!

1. Kensington Market

Probably one of the most happening places in the city when the sun starts shining is Kensington market. Home to the flea market, tons of cute restaurants/cafes and live music, this is the spot to be in the spring/summer. My favourite food spots in and around Kensington are Seven Lives Tacos y Mariscos for affordable prices and delicious filling tacos. The Dirty Bird Chicken + Waffles is a great spot to tackle all of your cravings at once with sweet and savory meal options. Lastly is Jimmy’s Coffee, if you are looking for a fast and delicious cup of coffee for your walk, this is the place to go. The rustic and relaxed decor is perfect and the large assortment of pastries and drinks are top-notch. Grab some friends and try out any of these three restaurants and you won’t be disappointed.

With Toronto finally starting to come alive with the warm weather, these were some of my top recommendations for a great time. Missing any? Let me know!
